As moms, finding that perfect life balance is something we all trying to achieve. We must care for our families, ensuring needs are met, whether it’s a hug or a reminder about extracurricular activities. Moms must be in control of everything that happens with the family all the time, and this can be exhausting, particularly on moms who don’t take the time to practice self-care for themselves.
Many moms live a life sacrifice their time and energy for their families, at times, not even having time to brush their hair or take a shower. After all, it’s more important than the kids are taken care of, right? Nevertheless, your life is still significant, and you need to ensure you obtain what you require, even while you ensure the kids have their needs met. It’s a fragile balancing act that only a small number of moms have truly grasped, but it’s simple to ensure a good life balance with these simple tips for self-care for busy moms.
Finding Balance
- Make self-care a priority. Set your alarm 30 minutes earlier than you usually wake up. Thirty minutes may not seem like a great deal of time, but it is amazing what you can achieve in just 30 minutes without the kids running around. Spend this time to take a hot bath, practice yoga, meditate, journal, or even just having a cup of coffee with your thoughts.
- Focus on yourself. Daily, allow some time out of your day to do something just for you—something that increases your well-being or comfort, like doing a crossword puzzle or baking a cake. Set a reminder on your phone or in your day planner to ensure you make time for yourself.
- Create a sacred space. Create a unique space in your house or apartment just for yourself. It can be an entire room or just a corner. In this space, you can place pictures of people you love, inspirational quotes, books, candles, incense, or any inspirational item that has a specific meaning to you. You can add comfort items like blankets or a cushion to sit on, music to relax the minds, etc. Add things that make you feel good. It’s essential when you enter your sacred space that you are immediately shifted into a positive state of mind that helps you to relax and disconnect or unwind and gives you serenity and happiness. Retreat to your sacred space in those moments of self-care.
- Involve family in self-care. Learn how to combine family activities with self-care activities. Life balance is about maintaining care for the family while still caring for yourself. Look for ways to exercise self-care while still providing your time and energy to your family. For example, have a family hike day, practice family yoga, have a family dance party in the kitchen while making dinner.
- Set boundaries. Good self-care begins with setting healthy boundaries. Create self-care rituals for yourself and set clear boundaries for others to acknowledge and respect your “mommy time.” Whatever you chose to add to your self-care routine, schedule it, and make it a priority.
