So I’m 19 days into my current Whole 30 Challenge, over halfway there! Whoo-hoo!

If you don’t know, the Whole30 is a nutritional plan intended to repair your metabolism, your digestive tract, your immune system, and kick start your wellness by eliminating foods that may have a negative impact on your health.  And I’m doing it while pregnant.

I’ve been doing so well too, no intentional cheats and no overwhelming cravings have been very minimal despite the pregnancy.

I’ve found the key to being successful on this Whole30 challenge was planning ahead. Having a weekly plan on Sunday night and prepping accordingly saved me from staring aimlessly into the freezer every evening or eating something unhealthy from a drive-thru.

I will say the most difficult part of the Whole 30 Challenge is finding alternative snack options that are compliant. The goal of the Whole30 is to eat three wholesome, nutritious, and filling meals at home without snacking if you can help it.  But since I am trying to improve my fitness most days (training for a walking half-marathon) and am continuously on the move chasing after kids, cleaning the house, or writing, I get ravenous pretty quickly. Besides I like to snack (and so does my growing little one), so I’m not willing to eliminate it altogether. As an alternative, I am finding much healthier, nutritious, and filling snack options that are simple and quick to pack on the go.
