I taught my first public full-length Vinyasa yoga class yesterday. After a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training course, you would think I would feel ready for anything. But, I was super nervous.
Our theme/intention for the yoga class was “courage.” Boy, did I ever need courage for teaching that first yoga class. I had taught privately to friends and family but never to a room of complete strangers.
I was so nervous teaching that first yoga class. My voice wavered, I made simple mistakes, I may have talked and over-cued too much. These are all things that I am working on.
My hope was to create a beautiful and transformational experience for each and every student in my yoga class whether it was for 7 people or 77. Through music, cuing, and encouraging words I brought anew yoga experience to the students.
Life gave me the “wings” of this beautiful opportunity to teach yoga. I made the decision to use my courage to rise above my fears and just soar with it…no matter what happened.
