DIY Coconut Oil Face Scrub

In the past, I have written about the great uses for coconut oil. There are so many wonderful uses for this little known oil. Coconut oil can be used for health and wellness as well as around the home. One of the great uses of coconut oil is as a coconut oil face scrub.

While the idea of using oil on your face to wash it is the exact opposite of what many of us girls grew up learning about skin care. In fact, growing up, I would use straight rubbing alcohol on my face to keep the oil away. It is a shame that I did not know about the wonders of coconut oil. Coconut oil is a wonderful skin moisturizer than any oil or lotion on the market today. It is even gentle enough for the gentle skin around the eyes making it a very practical “potion” for any skin care regimen.

The baking soda, also known as Sodium bicarbonate, is a great addition to any skin care routine.  In this recipe it  is used for gentle exfoliation to slosh off any dead skin cells on the surface. This leaves a very healthy glow to the skin. By adding just a few drops of essential oil, you can add to the spa effect.

Coconut Oil Face Scrub

This is an amazing and inexpensive face scrub that will keep your skin clear and healthy.

Ingredients
  

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Coconut Oil
  • 1/4 cup Baking Soda
  • 3 drops Essential Oil ex. lavender, tea tree, rosewater, etc.

Instructions
 

Directions

  • 1. Mix all of the ingredients together and place in an air tight jar.
  • 2. Keep jar in a cool, dark place until ready to use.

Notes

Washing Directions:
1. Take a small amount (about 1/4 teaspoon) face scrub in your hands.
2. Wash your face in a gentle, circular motion for 1 minute.
3. Rinse well.
*Wash face with face scrub 2-3 times a week to maintain healthy skin.
