A little over a month ago, my husband and I decided to try a new eating plan. My career as a blogger and freelance medical writer was starting to take a toll on me, and I was ready to feel healthier and more energetic.

We had tried eating plans in the past. Our most recent and most successful eating plan was the Paleo diet. Last year, while maintaining a mostly Paleo eating style, I posted a lot of my favorite Paleo diet recipes. From coconut crusted tilapia to steakhouse quality steaks, I had the meals covered.

Then we found this new eating plan—The Whole 30! Have you heard of it? Oh my goodness! It is one of the best, most satisfying “diets” I have ever tried. Much like the Paleo diet, the Whole 30 is a month long clean-eating program that focuses on whole, fresh foods like lean meat, fish, eggs, fresh vegetables, and fruit and steers away from refined carbohydrates, sugars, and artificial foods. The program touts numerous health and emotional benefits as well as aims to reset your metabolism, reshape your relationship with food.

When I first started the diet, I thought I would be able to just adapt the Paleo recipes I had created the year prior and be fine. Well, not exactly. Unlike the Paleo diet, the Whole 30 also does allow the use of NATURAL sugars like agave, natural maple, raw honey, or coconut sugar making it much more restrictive but much more effective. Additionally, dairy (even the raw, full-fat kind) is out of the question.

So, I went on a mission to create wholesome and satisfying meals that my whole family would enjoy. This one was a real winner. I simply call it, the Best Baked Drumsticks! Try it out and tell me how you like it.
