The hot summer days are upon us. Remember the sweet lemonade of our youth? When I was growing up, kids in the neighborhood had lemonade stands everywhere during the summer. Mom would make up a nice big batch and you’d sit out by the curb with your pitcher of lemony goodness and cups. The neighbors always patronized my little business just to get a little taste of that sweet and tangy drink. There was just something so good about lemonade back then.
As I have gotten older, I have begun to crave it. Now, the refreshing taste of lemonade is the perfect summer cooler with a bit of variety using an unconventional herb–thyme.
Available all year round, thyme is an herb from the mint family. It has a light lemon smell and a strong minty taste making it a perfect addition to iced cold lemonade. This variation of the classic lemonade is sweet, tart, refreshing, and Pale0-friendly as well as Gluten-free.
