Happy midweek, everyone! Today is Wednesday which means it is time for another edition of Wisdom Wednesday. The virtue I have chosen to discuss is one that I have been struggling with a lot lately. It is the virtue of persistence.
Persistence is defined as a never-ending, unyielding behavior. The most successful people in business and life are continuously persistent. This is why it is vital to develop the virtue of persistence, regardless of your goals. Undeniably there is a strong difference between the virtue of persistence and being “annoying. Persistence should always have a goal.
Persistence entails a great deal of deliberate thought and progressive preparation. When someone is persistent, they are completely dedicated, not to an achievement, but to the plan. They trust in a standard and understand that with the aim of achieving their goals, persistence will be necessary. A persistent person understands the significance of repetition but is cautious about appropriate timing and using proper language. A persistent person is cautious to study the problem first, forming a plan of action and then becoming devoted to that plan. When complications arise, the persistent person forms alternative solutions and strategies.
Persistence creates the control to do easily what we once thought was difficult and even ‘ unachievable’. It can provide us the ultimate confidence we have of attaining success. It can yield incredible results in many areas of your life, even when the circumstances seem impossible. Professionally, persistence is important. New writers and bloggers are often particular advocates of themselves and must work doubly as hard to hone their craft and their brand. This requires persistence as the first few months (and sometimes years) progress may be slow with trying to find your niche and build a loyal readership. Persistence is critical if you ever expect to thrive in a blogger or writer.
Personally, persistence has played and continues to play, an important part in my daily life. Being a WAHM (work at home mom), I required a lot of persistence to get my foot in the door. I had tried, unsuccessfully, a few years earlier to break into the world of content writing. I was good at writing, I even have a degree in Technical Writing, but no one was willing to give me a chance. There were times I wanted to give up. But I kept it up, starting this blog and applying for every writing job that came into my inbox. Eventually, I was given a position that, while it did not pay a whole lot, got me in the habit of writing for online publications. Sure I could be making more money doing physical therapy (A LOT more money) but I have not yet reached my goal, and I am continuously trying to improve myself through classes and new opportunities.
In reality, persistent people are action oriented; they make their business and craft develop; they increase communication, and they aid in shaping this generation’s spirit of the age. It is possible to make all your goals become reality. Plan out your goals and permit yourself the opportunity to become all you desire to become. Commit yourself to your idea of success and assist in improving the world in your own distinctive way.
How do you practice persistence in your personal or professional life?

Perseverance is an important trait, but also is knowing when to quit. Remember the old saying about insanity – doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

Perfect timing. I have been persistent on building a fence my dog can not escape from, she on the other hand is persistent on showing me she can get through anything! We are both stubborn (persistent), I just hope I win the battle!
I have always been rather persistent in most everything that I really wanted to accomplish. For instance–I wanted a science degree–It took me until the age of 40 to finally get into a college and then at 44 I graduated with a BA in Environmental Sci (heavy in the science). Persistence does pay off!! Of course I still earned my living as a bookkeeper–oh well—-

Persistence to the plan does render results…most of the time. I agree with Scott above though, it’s important to know when to quit too.
I am with Try try again. You always have to keep going!
