Yesterday in my post Health Benefits: B Vitamins, I discussed the important role that B vitamins play in our health.VitaminB12 is an important nutrient in a healthy lifestyle by preserving energy levels and intellectual capabilities.  BothvitaminB12 and folate can assist in protecting our DNA as well as the formation of red blood cells, and neurological function.

Recently, I found myself at my doctor’s office complaining of feeling more tired than usual. While I have a medical background, my doctor re-educated me on the importance of increasing my B12 intake. She suggested that I try supplementation, which I had used off and on for years, for the purposes of increasing my energy levels. I was just about to purchase B12 in pill form when I was approached by Vita Sciences via Brandbacker to sample and review a B12 cream. The idea of not having to take a pill was enticing, and I jumped at the chance. This B12 cream is reported to assist in elevating energy levels, so I was very interested in trying this product.

About Maxasorb B12 Cream

Maxasorb B12 is scientifically formulated to deliver vitamin B12 topically. Each full application (2 pumps) of lotion provides 320 micrograms of Vitamin B12 (Methylcobalamin) plus 120 micrograms of Vitamin B3 (Niacin) and ten micrograms of Folate. According to Vita Sciences, “Key medical experts even suggest that all healthy adults over 50 years of age supplement their diets with 100 to 400 micrograms per day of Vitamin B12”.

Maxasorb B12, when used as directed, is a safe and dependable way of receiving beneficial B-Vitamins. Maxasorb is greaseless and is infused with antioxidants and moisturizers to be easily absorbed into your skin for maximum vitamin uptake. Each bottle is 1.7 ounces and delivers 30 applications of lotion in measured amounts.

Vita Sciences even reports that if you have itchy or dry skin, or if you have eczema, psoriasis or skin rash, Maxasorb B12 cream will support and renew healthy skin cells. It can even reduce the appearances of wrinkles.

Application

To apply Maxasorb B12, put two full pumps of cream on the inside of your wrists and rub together until the lotion is absorbed.  This is a good location for application as the skin on the wrists is thinner than anywhere else on your body, so the nutrients are more easily absorbed into the skin. The lotion can be applied anywhere on the body but use caution around the  eyes if you are using on the face.

Review

I received a bottle of Maxasorb Vitamin B12 from Vita Sciences via Brandbacker in exchange for my honest review of the product. I was very excited to try this product since I had recently read about how certain vitamins can be absorbed through the skin as well as taken orally.

I followed the instructions on my box which read: “Adults and children over 12 years: Rub 2 full pumps (one dose) onto skin once per day as needed.” I pumped out one dose worth and rubbed it into the tops of my arms. The cream absorbed quickly and did not feel greasy at all. Plus it had a nice scent.

Initially I thought I would feel something immediately, but I did not. About 20 minutes later, I could feel something was going on. It was as though I had just gotten a caffeine jolt from a cup of coffee. I then started to notice that I was more focused, and my energy levels had increased. It is important to note that if you consume caffeine around the time that you receive the dose, these effects were even more pronounced.

The next day, I decided to apply the product to my face. I had read that Maxasorb B12 good for red, dry, irritated skin.  I have battled red facial skin since I was a teenager that tends to be triggered by stress. Immediately following application, I could feel the niacin (which gives a slight tingling sensation) working. Within about 15 minutes, I could feel the B12 working (increased focus and energy) and to my surprise, my redness had decreased in my face. It is important to note here that it did make my facial skin a bit more photosensitive than normal. So, if you are prone to sunburn, plan to apply the product elsewhere on the days when you will have prolonged sun exposure.

Overall, I really like this product and plan to order more once this bottle is completed. I recommend this product to anyone that has irritated, itchy or dry skin; skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis or rash; or anyone that just wants or needs increase energy via B12.
