If you’re like me, you want a full-body workout, but you just don’t have enough time in the day to spend doing separate exercises for each body part. An elliptical workout may be just what you need. Elliptical trainers present total success; it comes to working your whole body.

Elliptical trainers are aerobic, low-impact exercise machines that can be found in most gyms. They work the upper and lower body at the same time, along with your core muscles—the abdominals and back. The movement of the elliptical trainers’ pedals move in an “elliptical” design that simulates the movements of walking, running, and stair stepping without causing a lot of pressure on your joints, so the risk of impact injuries is low.

How are Elliptical Trainers Used?

Elliptical trainers can be valuable for rehabilitation, strength, and cardiovascular training. Since lower- impact workouts are less irritating to the body than other cardio machines; they are exceptional if you have any knee, ankle, hip, or back issues.

Elliptical trainers can also help with losing weight. In 2013, I lost nearly 40lbs with a combination of elliptical training and weight training. The elliptical works both the upper body and lower body muscles gives you a somewhat healthier workout than other cardio machines. By using your biceps, triceps, chest, back, quadriceps, hamstrings, calf, and gluteus muscles during each workout, the elliptical increases your body’s capability to burn fat more efficiently—even at rest.
