Good morning and welcome to another edition of “Wisdom Wednesday”. Each week I will post motivational quotes on various different virtues. My intent is to create a reference for you to turn to when you feel you need a little motivation on a particular virtue.
Last week’s virtue was tact. This week’s virtue is the wonderful virtue of self-sacrifice. Self-sacrifice is offering up of oneself for the good of others.
Sacrificing your life for another human being is conceivably the most heroic act you can do in your lifetime. A true self-sacrifice builds upon the dignity of others. This is why suicide bombers are not performing a self-sacrificial act. The strength of true self-sacrifice is the essential spirit of a person, and not simply the consequence of events you have motivated yourself to make an effort to do.
Here are ten quotes that express just that, because sometimes you need to know a life of service does, indeed, continue to exist.
