Sea Salt Sock. The minerals in the sea salt have wonderful healing properties as well as an amazing ability to retain heat which helps to transfer the pressure within the ear.

Do you have a child that gets chronic ear infections? I have to admit, I never thought that I would have a child that has an ear infection almost every other month during the cold, flu and ear ache season, but I do. Pediatricians seem to be more interested in prescribing antibiotics for a “redness” inside the ear than to find remedies to prevent the ear infection to begin with.

After our 5th round of antibiotics for ear infections that clear up and then come back, I began looking into homeopathic and naturopathic methods of remedying the ear infections and ear pain. One of the remedies that I found to be quite helpful is the Sea Salt Sock.

A sea salt sock is a clean, white cotton sock filled with coarse sea salt that is heated and placed on the involved ear for pain relief. The minerals in the sea salt have wonderful healing properties as well as an amazing ability to retain heat which helps to transfer the pressure within the ear. Try it today!

What You Need:

  • A clean all white cotton sock (no color should be on the sock)
  • 1.5 cups of Coarse Sea Salt

Directions:

  1. Carefully pour the salt into the sock using a small funnel.
  2. Double knot the opening of the sock to seal the sea salt in the sock.
  3. Heat a clean skillet on medium-low heat.
  4. Place salt sock in skillet and heat for about 5 minutes making sure to shake it and flip it every minute to evenly heat.
  5. Heat the salt sock until it is very warm, but not hot.
  6. Cover the involved ear and the area behind the jaw bone with the sock for 15 minutes.

Note:
The salt sock can be used multiple times but you will want to replace it once it starts to look dirty.
