Commercial skin care products and cosmetics are the highest source of exposure to chemicals for most women. The average commercial beauty product contains multiple harmful chemicals, many which are not tested for safety in humans. Luckily, there are natural substitutions for every skin and cosmetic product, generally working superior than the commercially manufactured product.  

A few quick natural beauty tips and recipes:

1.  To decrease hyper-pigmentation on the skin, mix ½ tablespoon turmeric powder and ½ tablespoon lemon juice. Apply to hyper-pigmented area of skin with a cotton ball. Leave on for 15 minutes .Rinse off with lukewarm water and pat dry.

2.  Exfoliate, lighten and soothe skin by combining 1/4 cup sour milk and 1/4 cup uncooked oatmeal. Place between two layers of cheesecloth. Leave on for 45 minutes. Rinse with lukewarm water and pat dry.

3.  A great anti-wrinkle treatment can be created at home. Whisk together ½ cup tomato juice and ½ cup milk. Apply this mixture twice a day. Leave on for 10 minutes. Rinse with lukewarm water and pat dry.

4.  To reduce dark under-eye circles mix together 1 tablespoon lime juice and 1 tablespoon tomato juice.  Apply mixture with a cotton ball twice daily. Do not rinse off.

5.  To make your skin glow, blend 1 cup mashed pumpkin, ¼ cup plain yogurt, and 2 tablespoon organic honey in a blender. Liberally apply to the face. Leave on for 10 minutes. Rinse with lukewarm water and pat dry.

6.  For a quick and natural skin rejuvenation facial, treat yourself to youth mask. Mix together in a blender 1 cup cooked pumpkin, 1 cup plain yogurt, 1 tablespoon brewed green tea, 1 tablespoon carrot juice, 1 tablespoon honey, and 1 tablespoon grape seed extract. Gently spread the ingredients on the face and neck. Wash Leave on for 15 minutes. Rinse with lukewarm water and pat dry.
