Family life can get busy fast. We’ve all had one of those days where the day seems to be creeping away from you, and you accomplish half the stuff you set out to do when you woke up that morning. The kids need you for homework and dinner. The baby had a diaper explosion that leads to a bath time when you were planning folding clothes. You still need to finish up that assignment for school/work, and your husband wants to spend a little quality time with you.

Daily life can change dynamically from minute to minute. With so many daily tasks, busy moms can quickly become overwhelmed without a clear-cut schedule, plan, or strategy to manage the household! Luckily, a little motivation goes far, and understanding to manage your time with a few simple family management tips to help you be more productive in less time, with less stress.

Plan Ahead

Give yourself an extra 10 minutes in the event someone can’t find their jacket, an accident occurs, or you need to pack snacks. If you have items that everyone needs available before leaving, it will make life easier and take less time to get out the door.

Prioritize your Time

When learning good time management, it’s important to consider two points. First, consider your most important tasks, those that are of higher priority or must be kept on a regular basis. Second, determine when you will be most productive during your family’s routine to complete tasks. Make up a list of your tasks, starting with the most important tasks first, and working through the list one at a time.

Organize Schedules

Take time to plan ahead! For busy moms, a great family management tip is to arrange schedules daily. Mealtimes are a great opportunity to discuss with everyone about upcoming activities and events. Use a calendar or family organizer to schedule appointments, activities, due dates, and deadlines to help keep your family life organized.

Break Up Tasks

Feel successful with time management by staying on top of cleaning by breaking up your housework into easy daily tasks. Rather than attempting to clean the house weekly, allocate a little time every day to tackle your household chores.  Take a few minutes and quickly clean up any dirty or high traffic areas of your home. Get the kids involved too by having them help clean up their toys before bedtime helps you feel more relaxed in the evening.
