avon training week 16-17

Hi all! I’ve been so busy these past few weeks, I completely forgot about writing blog posts. My training is continuing onwards and upwards toward the ultimate goal… 2017: AVON 39 The Walk to End Breast Cancer: San Francisco on July 8-9! It is almost here.

I am getting more and more excited as the weeks go on but I am starting to get nervous about not being able to use my earbuds. Everyone I spoke with says that there will be so many people there that I won’t even need them but, I’m kind of a recluse when it comes to my training that I just plug in and tune out. I might create a playlist and use a portable speaker instead.

These past two weeks I have been really increasing the miles. This past Tuesday, I walked the longest that I have ever walked in one stretch…22 training miles. I did it out at Lake Natomas in Folsom. I have been walking over there for a few weeks now and I really enjoy it although the cyclists are very territorial about their bike lanes. Yikes.

This walk I also saw my first blister that I have had this entire training journey. I know exactly what caused it (loose shoelaces) and have been quite diligent since then in ensuring that my shoes are nice and tight. I don’t want any blisters for training and I definitely don’t want any on event weekend.
