Wow! It has been an amazing couple of weeks getting back out on the trails and getting in some sunshine and walking the Camino de Santiago (virtually). It has finally warmed up here so I can just grab my earbuds, my phone, and my shoes and hit the road.

The first week I was really walking strong. I got some good mileage in and got to see a lot of the new neighborhood.

The second week was even more fascinating. I found a few new trails in the neighborhood and around town. On Saturday, I had planned to walk just 10 miles in the morning on the Fox River Trail but ended up doing 13.1 (half marathon) miles. It was a great time but boy does the trail get extra busy on the weekends, even during COVID-19.

Virtually Walking the Camino de Santiago Training Weeks 1 & 2

This week my goal is to take it easy with the mileage so I don’t end up with injuries. I already have blisters where I had never had blisters before when walking long distances, like my training for the AVON39. I am hoping on actually using one of my training days to hike in the forest preserves near my home.

Doing this virtual challenge has been interesting. When I hit certain mileage “milestones,” I receive a virtual postcard from where I am on the route. It has been neat learning about all og the different towns along the Camino de Santiago. I have included my first four postcards, below.
