skin care

As women, we care a great deal about how we look. It is essential that we look good and ensure that we maintain our youthful glows for as long as possible. You may have even tried a lot of products to keep your skin looking its best, some may have been effective, some of maybe not so much.

The human body’s first barrier and largest organ in the entire body is the skin. It guards all the vital organs inside our body from the damaging and harsh environment around us. Consequently, the skin should be taken care of appropriately.

Skin care regimens are different between men, women, and children. Even between women, skin care changes at different phases of women’s lives.

Influences on the Skin

There is a multitude of things that influence the health of a woman’s skin. Diet and lifestyle can mirror a woman’s exterior appearance. A good diet and healthy lifestyle will create healthy skin. Healthy looking skin is commonly an indication of a woman’s general wellness.

Quite the opposite, a bad diet and unhealthy lifestyle will commonly reveal bad health through a woman’s skin. Bad lifestyle choices such as smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, sleep deprivation, eating a high-fat diet can similarly deny the skin of vital nutrients it requires to perform at its best.

For both women and men, a healthy lifestyle that consists of good nutrition, consistent exercise and adequate rest create the basis for gorgeous and healthy skin. Eating a balanced diet of fresh fruits and vegetables, lean protein, and proper hydration ensures that your skin receives all the vital nutrients and vitamins that are essential for maintenance and repair.

Skin Care During a Lifetime

Hormonal changes at different stages of a woman’s life can cause changes in a woman’s skin. As teenagers, we may find that we have more acne than normal due to changes in hormonal levels. During pregnancy, a woman’s skin can turn from normal to oily. Whereas women of menopausal age have complained of dry skin. These changes throughout your life may require you to change your skin care products design for your particular stage in life.

At any stage of a woman’s life, it is always good to use mild facial cleanser daily. A gentle exfoliator may also be necessary to deeply cleanse pores and eliminate dead skin cells. Exfoliation should be used no more than once or twice per week. Finish your facial regimen with a good moisturizer designed for your specific skin type.  It is also a good idea when going outdoors to use a sunscreen to protect your skin from harmful UV rays. Some moisturizers may even contain a sun protector in them.
